AMC Commissioner terminates 9 fire officers
August 23, 2024
Ahmedabad: The municipal commissioner of the city today ordered the dismissal of nine fire brigade officers serving in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) fire department for securing their jobs through bogus sponsorship.
These fire officers had gained admission to the National Fire Service College of Nagpur using bogus sponsorship certificates and then secured employment in the fire department of the AMC. The municipal commissioner received a complaint about this issue, and a vigilance investigation was conducted. After the investigation confirmed the allegations, the officers were given 10 days to submit their responses. However, the replies provided by all the fire department officials were deemed unsatisfactory by the municipal commissioner, leading to their dismissal.
The officers who have been terminated include Divisional Fire Officers Inayat Shaikh and Om Jadeja, who gained admission to the National Fire Service College (NFSC), Nagpur, using bogus sponsorship from Gujarat State Civil Defense Ahmedabad.
Another Divisional Officer, Kaizad Dastur, also obtained his employment by improperly gaining admission to NFSC for the Sub-Officers Course, Station Officers and Instructors Course, and Divisional Officers Course without having the required experience.
Fire Station Officers Shubham Khadia, Abhijeet Gadhvi, Mehul Gadhvi, and Anirudh Gadhvi gained admission to the NFSC, using fake sponsorship from the Central Public Works Department in New Delhi.
Fire Officer Sudhir Gadhvi and Sub-Officer Asif Sheikh gained admission to the NFSC through the fake sponsorship of Koshi Hydro Electric Corp. Ltd., a Bihar-based private company. DeshGujarat
