Red alert for extremely heavy rains in South Gujarat till Wednesday morning; Here’s IMD forecast till Sept 9

Surat: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated in its latest forecast that extremely heavy to exceptionally heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over the South Gujarat region.
According to the latest bulletin, a red alert is in place for 24 hours in Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, as these areas are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rains at a few places, with isolated extremely heavy falls.
An orange alert is in effect for Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Anand, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Dang, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu, as these areas may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
In contrast, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Dahod, Mahisagar, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Morbi, Dwarka, Botad, and Kutch are likely to experience heavy rains.
On September 4th, Banaskantha, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli will remain under orange alert.
Heavy rains are very likely at isolated places in the districts of the Gujarat region, namely Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, and Dang; in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, namely Surendranagar, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu.
On September 5th, heavy rains are very likely at isolated places in the districts of the Gujarat region, including Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, and Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli; in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, namely Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Kutch.
On September 6th, heavy rains are expected at isolated places in the districts of the Gujarat region, including Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, and Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli; in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, namely Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Kutch.
On September 7th, heavy rains are likely at isolated places in the districts of the Gujarat region, including Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Navsari, Valsad, and Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
On September 8th, heavy rains are likely at isolated places in the South Gujarat region, specifically Navsari, Valsad, and Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
On September 9th, heavy rains are likely at isolated places in the South Gujarat region, particularly Navsari, Valsad, and Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The IMD’s synoptic situation report states that the monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, Udaipur, the center of a low-pressure area over west Vidarbha and its neighborhood, Ramagundam, Kalingapatnam, and then southeastward to the east-central Bay of Bengal.
– A shear zone runs roughly along 20°N over north Peninsular India at 3.1 km above mean sea level.
– A cyclonic circulation lies over Saurashtra and its neighborhood between 4.5 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwards with height.
