Vadodara floods leave over 50,000 cars damaged

Vadodara: In the aftermath of the flood in the Vishwamitri River that ravaged the city of Vadodara in the last week of August, around 50,000 cars have been left damaged. With approximately 10,000 cars severely damaged, they are unlikely to be repaired ahead of Diwali.

The dealers and service centers are renting party plots to park the cars they have received for repair, with every dealer having 400-500 cars for repair. The parked cars are being segregated for servicing, and some may take time in repairs as parts are being imported from other countries. In service workshops that are now running in party plots, some cars are still being drained of water.

As of now, around 30,000 cars have been repaired, and 20,000 are left, of which around 10,000 cars are unlikely to be repaired by Diwali. It is also learned that several electric cars are left unusable as the battery has to be sent to Mumbai for repairs, which costs around Rs. 1 lakh.

In another update, as per the RTO, small cars from Maruti, Hyundai, and Tata are among the most damaged in the recent floods, along with 22 new cars from a showroom. A luxury car, fully automatic and priced between Rs 10 to 12 lakh, has also been affected. The sensor system in many cars is broken and needs to be imported, which takes time. As a result, such cars are unlikely to be repaired for at least four months. DeshGujarat
