Ahmedabad: Vatva police on Friday arrested three women, including a former corporator of AMC (Amdavad Municipal Corporation) Afsana Sheikh. The police arrested these women after rescuing a 16- year-old minor girl from a prostitution ring who was forced into the sex trade by these accused. The girl’s parents had approached the police after she went missing and alleged that she was often seen at Afsana Sheikh’s house.

After investigating, the police found that Afsana Sheikh, along with two other women, had tricked the girl into prostitution by promising her opportunities in acting and modeling. The accused also used a caffeine syrup to keep the girl awake and working. Afsana Sheikh had won the 2019 civic body polls as an independent candidate. She was arrested along with the other women.
