FM Nirmala Sitharaman to launch Gujarat-Level NPS Vatsalya Scheme virtually

Ahmedabad: The state-level launch of the NPS Vatsalya Scheme is set to take place on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman will launch the scheme virtually from Delhi.

Ashwini Kumar, Convener of the State-Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) and General Manager of Bank of Baroda, Ahmedabad Zone, will be present at an event to be held at Silver Plater Hall, Silver Cloud Hotel & Banquet.

The NPS Vatsalya events will be organized simultaneously at nearly 75 locations across the country. While the main event will be held in Delhi, other locations, including Ahmedabad, will join the launch via video conference.

NPS Vatsalya allows parents to save for their children’s future by investing in a pension account and ensuring long-term wealth growth through the power of compounding. The scheme offers flexible contributions and investment options, allowing parents to invest as little as Rs. 1,000 annually in the child’s name, making it accessible to families from all economic backgrounds.

This new initiative is designed to secure the financial future of children early on, marking an important step in India’s pension system. The scheme will be managed under the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). DeshGujarat
