Ahmedabad: The Health Minister of Gujarat has ordered an inquiry against Khyati Hospital, located on SG Highway in the city, following allegations of the death of two patients due to the hospital’s negligence.

Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Rushikesh Patel, announced in an X post ,”The alleged incident at Khyati Hospital is very serious. I have ordered an immediate inquiry by the State Anti-Fraud Unit (SAFU) of PMJAY. If there is any substance to the allegations or evidence of medical negligence, severe action will be taken against the hospital and the doctors involved.”

According to the details, the hospital organized a free health check-up in Borisana village of Kadi taluka on November 10th. After the check-up, nineteen people from the village were called to the hospital for treatment, where angiography was performed on all the patients, allegedly without informing them. Later, angioplasty was performed on seven of these patients. Two patients have died, and five others are currently in the ICU undergoing treatment. Relatives of the patients have alleged that they had no need for angioplasty, yet it was performed, and they subsequently died due to negligence. Preliminary information suggests that money was also deducted from the Ayushman cards of these patients.

The individuals who died have been identified as Nagarbhai Senm and Maheshbhai Barot. Relatives of the patients and villagers gathered in large numbers at the hospital, but the doctors reportedly disappeared, and no one at the hospital was providing answers. The people then vandalized the hospital, questioning the negligence that allegedly led to the deaths of their loved ones.

Dr. Bhavin Solanki, the head of the Health Department at Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), also reached Khyati Hospital this morning and stated that they are gathering complaints from the relatives and trying to contact the hospital management to get their explanation. The probe is underway.

Khyati multi speciality hospital is located opposite Rajpath Club. It is part of Khyati Group which is into various businesses including real estate, education and health. The government had approved Khyati hospital in 2021 for PMJAY scheme. Every year cores of Rupees are transferred to Khyati hospital over PMJAY payments. The government has reportedly freezed the bank accounts of the hospital. Khyati Group is led by Kartik Patel.
