Mega Demolition Drive in Bet Dwarka enters 5th day; Land worth ₹50 crore reclaimed

Dwarka: The mega demolition drive against illegal encroachments in the Okha-Bet Dwarka and nearby coastal regions entered its fifth day today.

Rajkot Range IG Ashok Kumar Yadav, while addressing the media regarding the drive, said, “A total of 51 landing points and 34 islands are spread across Jamnagar and Dwarka districts. As you know, the islands are very important from a security standpoint. When such islands are near a hostile country, their strategic importance rises further. Under the government’s action, which has been ongoing for the last four days, the religious encroachments on Pirotan Island in Jamnagar have been razed. Around nine religious encroachments, spread over a 4,000 square meter area, have been demolished by Jamnagar Police. Similarly, in Dwarka district, the drive has been carried out on 23 islands, and government land worth over ₹50 crore has been reclaimed after demolishing all kinds of illegal constructions.”

“This mega demolition drive, ongoing for the past five days in the coastal region, is important for national security. This area houses several industries, ports, jetties, fishing points, and islands of strategic importance. To ensure these remain secure, it is essential that no illegal encroachments are allowed, as they could lead to illegal activities. That is why this drive is ongoing and will continue in the future as well. The police will further take action to prevent any future encroachments,” he added. DeshGujarat
