India’s most celebrated singer Lata Mangeshkar released a book on Gujarat’s singer-musician Shri Purushottam Upadhyay’s musical journey – Surottam Purushottam at Mumbai’s Bhaidas auditorium yesterday.

“The love of audiences that Purushottambhai attracts just amazes me. It is difficult to sing on stage, but Purushottambhai has ability to grip the audience. My first song that I sung before 50 year – ‘Have Sakhi Nahi Bolu’ was composed by Purushottambhai. The second Gujarati song that I sung was composed by Dilip Dholakiya.”

Speaking on the occasion Shri Purushottam Upadhyay said: “After God, the only person that comes to my mind is late Shri Avinash Vyas. I lost my mother in my childhood, but my audience always provided me a love equal to my mother.”

The book release function was hosted by Image Publication and Shri Suresh Dalal. It was attended by Rozi Blue Diamond’s Harshad Mehta, singers Aishwarya Majmuidar, Bhupindar, Rupkumar Rathod, Pankaj Udhas, Mitali Mukharji, Rajendra Mehta, Sadhna Sargam among others.
