40 APMC’s of Gujarat linked to e-NAM

Ahmedabad: In a move that will help farmers sell their products online, 37 Agriculture Produce Market Committee’s (APMC’s) of Gujarat were today linked to e-National Agriculture Market (e-NAM), a pan India electronic trading portal.

“We have today linked 37 APMC’s of Gujarat to e-NAM, to facilitate farmers to sell their produce online, to keep them aware of existing rates of agri produce and enable them to get good return,” Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said at a gathering in Gandhinagar.

Three APMC’s of Gujarat were linked with e-NAM in April by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when the portal was launched.

Now all the 40 APMC’s in the state linked to the online platform.

“This is one initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which will help eliminate middleman and farmers can procure good price of their produce,” Rupani added.

The Chief Minister said his government has started a comprehensive planning to give proper irrigation, electricity and agriculture related inputs to farmers so that the call of Prime Minister to double the income of farmers by 2020 can be achieved.

“Under the e-NAM scheme launched by the Prime Minister on April 14, 240 APMC’s of the country were to be linked through this portal,” Rupani said.

e-NAM is a pan-India electronic trading portal which networks the existing APMC’s to create a unified national market for agriculture commodities.

The NAM portal provides a single window service for all APMC related information and services. This includes commodity arrivals and prices, buy and sell trade offers, provision to respond to trade offers, among other services.
