Gujarat BJP MP’s son joins Congress
December 07, 2016
Godhra: Pravinsinh Chauhan, a BJP leader and the son of BJP MP from Panchmahals constituency Prabhatsinh Chauhan, today joined Congress here alongwith his supporters.
Leader of Opposition in the Gujarat Assembly, Shankersinh Vaghela and state Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki were present on this occasion.
“His (Pravinsinh’s) wife Sumanben Chauhan, who is district panchayat member representing BJP, will also join Congress soon,” Solanki said.
He joined the party at a function of Panchmahals District Congress Committee which was attended by top Congress leaders.
Pravinsinh came to the function with his supporters, and announced from the dais that he was joining Congress.
He and his supporters were then greeted with garlands, thereby officially inducting them in Congress.
Pravinsinh had contested the 2012 Assembly election from Godhra on BJP ticket. He lost to Congress’s C K Raulji.
“BJP remembers me only when there is election. It does not otherwise help me get my work done, which is sad. My wife will also follow me and join Congress,” he said.
His father Prabhatsinh is a prominent BJP leader and serving as Panchmahal’s MP for the second consecutive term.
