BJP gives highest number of tickets to Gujaratis in BMC election

Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has given tickets to 28 Gujaratis in Mumbai Municipal Corporation election(BMC polls). As per an estimate there are around 3 million Gujaratis in Mumbai. Shiv Sena that had fielded two Gujaratis in the last civic polls has given ticket to 9 Gujarati candidates this time, while Congress has fielded 18 Gujarati candidates. Thus the highest number of tickets to Gujarati people are given by BJP. Gujaratis in Mumbai have majority presence across 40 seats. Gujaratis are considered decisive factor in another 25 seats. There are total 280 seats for which polling will take place in BMC elections.
