Amit Shah, Vijay Rupani meet Shankersinh Vaghela
March 30, 2017
Gandhinagar: National president of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) Shri Amit Shah who is also MLA of Gujarat Assembly elected from Naranpura constituency in Ahmedabad today attended the ongoing budget session of assembly. He also met Leader of Opposition and Congress MLA Shri Shankersinh Vaghela who was earlier in BJP. Shankersinh, 76 is in attempts to get position of Chief Ministerial candidate in the assembly elections scheduled to take place later this year. Shah during his meet with Shankersinh was joined by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Gujarat BJP president Jitubhai Vaghani. The meeting which was courtesy call took place for fifteen minutes or so in presence of other Congress MLAs. Shankersinh asked Amit Shah whether the elections of Gujarat assembly will happen on time or earlier. To this Amit Shah reportedly replied that elections would take place on time(in the year-end) and assembly will not be dissolved earlier. Shah had said same in his speech in Ahmedabad too yesterday. Shakersinh however in his talk with media persons said he believes anything can happen(regarding elections schedule). He said today’s meeting with Shah was a courtesy meeting and had no political relevance. Meanwhile Shah is scheduled to visit his Kuldevi temple in Mansa and attend State BJP president Jitu Vaghani hosted dinner function in Gandhinagar later today. Shah attended a meeting at State BJP headquarters Kamalam. He will also perform ground breaking for revamp work of AMC community hall in his constituency.
On early polls:
Shankersinh said: Shah reiterated that the assembly polls in Gujarat will be held in November, but there’s no reason to blindly believe it and we must be ready. There is a word used by RSS, ‘Vanchika’, which means to do something opposite to what projected, or to seed uncertainty.
Shankersinh said he was made Gujarat Congress chief in 2002 and then government under Narendra Modi had dissolved the assembly on the same day to invite early polls. Vaghela further said, this time(in 2017) he fears that BJP may dissolve assembly once his name is declared as CM candidate of Congress party and therefore he has requested the party high-command to announce his name as Chief Ministerial candidate for Gujarat polls only post 15th April, because it takes two months time for Election Commission to hold the polls and monsoon will begin on 15th of June and therefore Election Commission will not be able to give early polls.
Shankersinh doesn’t suffer from diabetes but cause diabetes to others:Shah
Shankersinh offered tea to Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and insisted that he should take opposition’s tea.
State BJP president Jitu Vaghani asked Shankersinh whether he had sugar issue.
Before Shankersinh’s reply, Amit Shah pointed out that none of Narendrabhai, Keshubhai and Shankersinh is suffering from diabetes, but when Shankersinh was in BJP he was cause of diabetes to others. Now when he is in Congress, he has caused diabetes to many there.
