Cloudy weather gives respite, met predicts some pre-monsoon showers in Gujarat from tomorrow

Ahmedabad: Partially cloudy weather at several places across Gujarat including Ahmedabad brought down maximum temperatures considerably today, giving relief to people even as met center here predicted some ‘pre-monsoon’ showers in various parts of the state in coming days beginning tomorrow.

Only two places recorded temperatures at or above 40°C with Surendranagar recording highest 41.3°C and Gandhinagar 40°C.

Ahmedabad witnessed a maximum rise of mercury only up to 39.7°C which was 2 degrees below normal. However like many other places the minimum temperature in the city at 29°C was above normal (1.3°C). The highest minimum temperature was in Gandhinagar at 30°C while at other places it remained in the range of 27 to 29°C. Relative humidity was quite high all over. In Ahmedabad it ranged between 51 to 67 %, which at times gave the feeling of uncomfortable humid hotness.

In-charge Director of met center here Ms Manorama Mohanty attributed strong westerly to southwesterly winds with high moisture content at lower levels and absence of such winds at upper level as the main reason behind cloud formation at several places across the state. She said that there could be pre monsoon rain at isolated places in various parts of the state from tomorrow.

To a query regarding on-set of monsoon in Gujarat, She said that it was likely to set foot at Kerala coast tomorrow after which it would be analyzed whether it would reach the state in time or not.

As per the met bulletin light to moderate rain or thundershowers were very likely at isolated places in the districts of South Gujarat region, Saurashtra and in
Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli in the next two days while there would be dry weather in the districts of North Gujarat region and in Kutch.
On the third and fourth day from tomorrow light to moderate rain or thundershowers were very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region, Saurashtra and in Diu,Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli while dry weather was very likely in Kutch district.

Owing to high humidity there won’t be any ‘heat-wave’ in the coming days.
