Continued pre-monsoon showers brings down mercury at some places, yet many see high temp, Idar 44°C

Ahmedabad: Even as the pre-monsoon rain continued to lash various parts of the state today as well bringing mercury considerably down at some places in South Gujarat and Saurashtra, high temperatures in other areas were recorded with at least 12 places seeing above 40°C and Idar in North Gujarat remaining hottest at 44°C.
Rajkot district saw rain on the third consecutive day today with parts of it receiving pre-monsoon showers. Parts of Dangs, Navsari, Narmada, Tapi, Chhota Udepur, Botad, Jamangar, Junagadh also saw rain or and thundershowers.
At the same time 4 places in the state saw over 43°C temperature while in all 12 recorded over 40°C.
Deesa at 43.5°C remained second hottest.
Ahmedabad saw a maximum of 43°C (2°C above normal) and a minimum of 30.6°C which was almost 3°C above normal.
Met has predicted more spells of pre-monsoon showers at some places tomorrow as well.Meanwhile a pre monsoon preparedness meet was also held in capital Gandhinagar today in which representatives of various central agencies including armed forces, NDRF, ISRO, Paramilitary forces and various state departments remained present. Chief Secretary J N Singh, Relief Commissioner Manish Bhardwaj were also present in it.
It was decided to place one team of NDRF for Suarashtra region at Rajkot and one for South Gujarat region at Surat by June 10. Four others were to be kept on-wheel for emergency movement.
The monsoon, meanwhile, was advancing normally so far and was likely to arrive Gujarat in time.
