Gandhinagar: Gujarat government will form Aayog(Commission) for unreserved segments ( those who are not covered under existing 49% reservation in jobs and educational institutions). The government will also appoint a panel to probe into police excesses during Patidar quota stir. Decisions on both of these issues will be taken by State cabinet in a meeting scheduled tomorrow.

Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel made this announcement in a press conference after a meeting with Patidar community outfits and organizations in capital Gandhinagar today.

The meeting was held on four issues; 1. relief to families of those who died during Patidar quota agitation, 2. actions against police for excesses during Patidar quota agitation, 3. formation of Aayog(commission) for those who are not covered at present under reservation system and 4. jobs to family members of those who died during Patidar quota agitation due to police excesses.

Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel who chaired this meeting said the decisions are taken not keeping any one person in focus but with all 80-85 lakh Patidar community members including those who donate crores of Rupees for community welfare every year, those representing major religious organizations of Kadva and Leuva Patidars.

Nitin Patel said the police cases against agitators during and after the agitation that are suitable for withdrawal will be withdrawn by the government.

He said relief amount as fixed by the community will be given to kin of those who died during agitation by us.

He said, ‘we would see that jobs in cooperative sector are given to family members of those who died in the course of agitation.’

Nitin Patel said, ‘some persons who are sponsored by Congress will continue to use Patidar community to save near-dead Congress as per guidance given by Congress akas. They will continue to do their activities till the voting time is over in Gujarat assembly polls.’

Nitin Patel said, ‘all present in the meeting were in agreement to the decision taken’.

Nitin Patel said he sought suggestions from Hardik Patel on what items should be covered under proposed Aayog. Hardik in his reply had said that his outfit would come with detail suggestions in next few days.

Nitinbhai said he was happy that nearly three-hour long meeting was concluded well.

He added that barring some politically motivated people, others in community want peace.

Nitinbhai said probe panel will be headed by retired Judge whose appointed will be made by Gujarat High Court. The probe panel will give its report based on which the government will take appropriate actions.

Reacting to the outcome of meeting, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti(PAAS) leader Hardik Patel who attended the meeting said the meeting was good but cabinet will take decisions tomorrow. He said fight will continue for reservation.

Reacting to the outcome of this meeting another agitating outfit leader Laljibhai Patel said the government will back unreserved class for its legal fight for quota. He said government has given assurance, but its decisions will be out tomorrow when cabinet issues notification.
