Perhaps taking a lesson from the past experiences, Congress as a changed election strategy has officially instructed all its leaders to not to make personal attacks on PM Narendra Modi during Gujarat Assembly polls’ ongoing campaign.

In-charge of party affairs in Gujarat and former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot today said that party vice president Rahul Gandhi has issued a written instruction in this regard.

‘As Modi ji is also the prime minister of the country so Rahul ji has given a clear instruction to not to make any such statement which demean the high office he holds,’ Gehlot said.

He, however, lamented that PM Modi himself was using low level language against Congress and its leaders during his poll campaign in Gujarat as well as Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, it is understood that Congress which is seemingly looking buoyed by the support from Patidar leader Hardik Patel and some other caste based agitation leaders, was taking precaution about Modi, one of the most popular leader of Gujarat, looking at its past experience.

Congress in the past elections had faced the backfire of sorts by attacking Modi personally and faced humiliating defeats one after the other. As per the saying ‘Once beaten twice shy’, the opposition party trying hard to get back the seat of power in Gujarat after 22 long years was likely to adopt a very cautious approach about attack on PM Modi.
