Kandhal gets regular bail in police station scuffle case with some conditions attached

The court of Additional Session Judge R R Bhatt of Porbandar district court today granted regular bail to the sole NCP MLA in Gujarat from Kutiyana seat, Kandhal Jadeja in connection with the case pertaining to ruckus in Ranavav police station and damage of public property, on condition that he would not leave Gujarat and give personal appearance on the first day of every month in Ranavav police station till the filing of Charge-sheet in the case.
Earlier on December 22, a local court in Ranavav town of Porbandar district of Gujarat had rejected the regular bail of Jadeja and 6 others the case but however had allowed temporary bail to Jadeja till December 25.
Advocate of Jadeja M G Singrakhiya today said that the court of the ADJ has given conditional regular bail to the NCP MLA and has also asked him to deposit his passport in Ranavav police station. The bail petition of other six jailed accused including five of his aides and Samat Mer with whom they had a scuffle in the wee hours of December 21 in the police station and were in jail here, was likely to be moved tomorrow.
During the scuffle some policemen were also allegedly beaten up and telephone and other property in the police station premises was damaged.
Kandhal and others have been booked under section 143, 147, 160, 186, 294, 332, 427 and 504 of the IPC and section 3(1) and 3 (2) of the Prevention of damage to public property act.
FIR pertaining to offense of rioting, assaulting and obstructing public servant was lodged on December 21. According to police Kandhal and others entered in to scuffle with police in wee hours of Thursday morning at Ranavav police station. Kandhal and 10 others including Kandhal’s brothers Karan and Kana Jadeja are booked in this connection. Kandhal and his gang was in search of Samat Mer who had worked against Kandhal in recently concluded assembly election. As they couldn’t trace Samat at his residence, they rushed to Ranavav Police station where Samat was hiding in order to protect self. Samat is president of Ranavav municipality. Kandhal and others thrashed Samat within police station building and created ruckus there.
Kandhal and gang broke telephone of police station and attacked the policemen present there. Kandhal is son of ‘Godmother’ Santokben Jadeja and late mafia Sarman Munja. Kandhal has been recently reelected from Kutiyana seat of Porbandar district. He is facing number of criminal cases and has been to jail in the past. Kandhal who is close to former Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela had voted in favour of BJP candidate and Shankersinh’s relative Balwantsinh Rajput in Rajya Sabha election this year.
