Rajkot:
Jaydev Unadkat, the Gujarati cricketer whom Rajasthan Royals booked for a whopping Rs 11.5 crores today on the second day of IPL-2018 auctions, said that the importance of bowlers in the quick format T-20 games was increasing.
26 year old Unadkat, a native of Porbandar, who has apart from Team India and India A also represented Delhi Daredevils, KKR, Risining Pune Supergaints, Royal challengers in the past, told newsmen here today that though he can bat also (right handed), he was basically a medium pacer (left hand) and he was happy that he has got a high bid.
‘Normally the T 20 format games like IPL are seen as a batsman’s game but now the importance of bowlers was increasing. In the last edition of IPL, several matches were low scoring and bowlers decided the games. We hope that this year also bowlers will have an upper hand,’ Unadkat, known for economic bawling in the T 20 format, said.
Unadkat, who has become the highest paid uncapped player in the IPL, said that with more and more players from Saurashtra playing in IPL and other big matches, the level of the game in the region was bound to go up.
