MNS goons attack Gujarati signboards in Mumbai after Raj Thackeray’s provocative speech

Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena goons teared down Gujarati name plates and hoardings in Vasai on Mumbai – Ahmedabad highway last night.

They did this after their leader Raj Thackeray’s provocative ‘Gudi Padva’ speech against Modi, Gujarat and Gujaratis.

Raj Thackeray had in his speech said ‘Vasai feels like Gujarat these days.’

Raj had in his speech also said that Mumbai – Ahmedabad bullet train project is conspiracy to separate the city of Mumbai from Maharashtra.

MNS Thane region president Avinash Jadhav said over 20 Gujarati signboards were smashed and pulled down at some commercial establishments in Vasai area.

Jadhav told news agency PTI, “Vasai and Thane district are in Maharashtra and not Gujarat, and we will not tolerate name boards in Gujarati anymore.”

He asserted that their agitation against such signboards would continue.

In July last year, some workers of the MNS had protested against a jewellery shop in Dadar and a hotel in the Mahim area of Mumbai, asking them to remove the signboards in Gujarati, the police had then said.

No offense has been registered against MNS hooligans in any of these incidents.
