CM calls upon for progressive state through idea of Reduce-Recharge-Reuse-Recycle use of water

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani today expressed his feelings to build progressive state through the idea of Reduce-Recharge-Reuse- Recycle use of water.
To mark the celebration of World Water Day Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani inaugurated the state level celebration function in Gandhinagar. With a view to save water and rationalize the usage of water Mr. Rupani launched ‘Dual Flush System.’
On the occasion he awarded cash rewards of worth Rs.01 Crore 16 lakh for repairs and maintenance works to approx 150 rural water committees and also awarded cash rewards of worth Rs. 14 lakh 50 thousand to under the scheme of running 100% women water committees to promote Chief Minister Women Water Committee.
Giving a call of save water to save life Mr. Rupani said that 70% of the water available in the world is sea’s salt water. Clean and drinkable water is limited and it will not be produced in any laboratory or can be processed.
In this context, he explained the need of public support for the government’s efforts to bring prudent use of water, rainwater harvesting and ground water upstream.
Mr. Rupani said that “Pani Parmeshvarno Prashad che” (water is a gift of god) as he requested people for the minimum usage of water. He said that 80% people of the state receive tap water at their door steps. He expressed his faith that moving forward in the direction to make Gujarat 100% hand pump-free.
Mr. Rupani also gave idea about the government’s ideas for establishing the first desalination plant to make salty water drinkable. He also gave a role to the state government to make a strong commitment to provide adequate drinking water of Narmada till July 31 in the state.
Mr. Rupani while launching the campaign Dual Flush System welcomed the sanitary production contributor’s, 3 liters of water will be used instead of 15 liters of water through this system.
Minister of State for Irrigation and Water Supply Mr. Parbatbhai Patel said that, water is essential source of life. The number of population increases the use of water increases. He requested all to make minimum use of water and to save it.
Additional Chief Secretary to Forest-Environment Department Mr. Arvind Agrawal greeted the people on world water day and said that, water is not only important for life but also plays a significant role for irrigation and to maintain the environment.
Principal Secretary to Water Supply Department Mr. J. P. Gupta welcomed the dignitaries and said that today the world is worried about water. With the increase in population the demand for water has also been raised.
