Ahmedabad: A shooter has been nabbed from city’s Relief Road based hotel last night. The details coming out from primary investigation suggest that the accused was here to murder BJP leader Gordhan Zadafia on order of someone. Zadafia’s photo was found from his mobile phone. Zadafia meanwhile in his talk with media persons in Gir Somnath today said his attention on this was led by Minister of State, Home, Pradipsinh Jadeja. Accused was staying at a small-time Venus hotel on Relief Road of wall city Ahmedabad. He had arrived at hotel post 10 am on Tuesday with a bag. His bag was checked by hotel staff but no weapon was found inside. However he had moved outside the hotel in the afternoon and returned by evening. When Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Crime Branch reached hotel in the night, the sharpshooter fired a shot however, the bullet hit only a wall. A shooter was nabbed by police alive. The name of accused is believed Muhammad from Maharashtra as per the Aadhar card he produced at Venus hotel’s reception counter. A hotel boy who gave room to accused, told media persons that DVR linked to CCTV cameras, entry register, Aadhar card and copy of Aadhar card etc were taken away by Police for investigation.

MoS Home in his briefing in the afternoon said, based on information received, Anti Terrorist Squad officials of Gujarat Police have nabbed a person from Chhota Shakeel gang who was here to kill BJP leaders. Jadeja in a reply to query said, BJP leader Gordhan Zadafia’s detail has been found in mobile phone recovered from accused. In reply to another query, he said, state DGP has been asked to make necessary increase in Zadafia’s security. Second person involved is still at large.

Jadeja said, ‘information was received that two sharpshooters of Chhota Shakeel gang were to attack BJP leaders. ATS DIG, SSP, DySP surrounded hotel Venus last night. When they tried to check, one suspect had loaded revolver on waist. When Police team attempted for his arrest, the accused tried to attack the police. Police officials however rushed like Cheetah and overpowered him, thanks to which a bullet fired by accused hit ceiling. While one accused has been nabbed, the other couldn’t reach here. ATS and Police are investigation about the second accused.
