Two from Gujarat among those evacuated from Afghanistan

Surat: Among the Indians evacuated by the Government of India under its ‘Operation Devi Shakti’ are two men from Bilimora and Chikhli towns of Navsari district in South Gujarat.
Manubhai Chhaganbhai Patel (Age: 51 years) was working in the general maintenance department in the American Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan for last 8 years. He is from Nandrakha village near Bilimora in Gandevi taluka. The American Army had safely airlifted him along with his staff in Doha through a Cargo airplane at night on 14th August. They were taken to Delhi airport in the morning on 22nd August from Doha. He finally reached his home in Nandrakha on Monday after his covid-19 tests.
Derick Kishorbhai Lad, residing in Maniyar street of Chikhli town, had gone to Afghanistan in 2017 for work. He had come back to India recently due to the death of a family member and returned to Afghanistan before some 15 to 20 days. He was working as a fire alarm technician in an European Company named Ekolom international in the Base camp of NATO countries on Kabul Airport. The same company had taken 160 persons including him to Qatar in three groups in the Cargo airplane of the USA where they stayed for 2 days. Then they were brought to Delhi in TATA Vistara Airlines by the Government of India. He was then sent to Surat via flight and he finally reached Chikhli in the morning on Tuesday. DeshGujarat
