Panchmahal: A Panchmahal court has levied Rs 15,000 as fine on a Pakistani citizen living unlawfully in India. The court has ordered the Pakistani citizen to deposit the money for the fine within 7 days with the Kanuni Seva Satta Mandal.

As per details, a Pakistani citizen, Akil Valibhai Piplodwala ( resident of Karachi in Pakistan) had entered the country with a Pakistani passport on an Indian visa in 1991-92 and not wanting to go back had filed a plea in the honorable court of the Godhra civil judge that pending a proper decision taken by the central government under Article 9 (2) of the Citizenship Act, the government must not be allowed to deport him from the country.

The court of Godhra civil judge had passed an order approving the claim of the Pakistani citizen and ordered the government not to send him back to Pakistan without following the due process as per law.

The government had been appealing against this order in various courts of Panchmahal district, with one such appeal coming up before the court of Panchmahal district’s principal district and sessions judge J C Doshi. In one of the documents produced by the Pakistani national in this court, the marriage registration certificate of Piplodwala was mentioned as Karachi, Pakistan and that of his father too as Karachi, Pakistan. Even the other documents that Piplodwala had produced in the court appeared to have been fabricated to support his claim.

Considering this to be a serious matter, the court has ruled that a Pakistani national cannot be allowed to misuse the legal procedures to continue to live in India and upheld the government’s appeal.

The court has in its order stated that Akil Piplodwala must reimburse the entire expenses the government has incurred on appealing this matter apart from depositing Rs 15,000 as expenses with the Zilla Kanuni Seva Satta Mandal within 7 days.

It has granted the government permission to proceed with recovering the money from Piplodwala if he fails to pay the money. The court’s order has spread fear among Pakistani and other foreign nationals living unlawfully in Panchmahal district. DeshGujarat
