Gujarat HC issues notice to Oreva Group in Morbi Bridge collapse case
December 22, 2022
Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court yesterday issued notice to Ajanta Manufacturing Pvt Ltd of Oreva Group, which was awarded the contract to maintain and operate the British-era suspension bridge.
Court also directed the state government to submit the progress report of the investigation of the Special Investigation Team and the report on the compliance of the earlier orders of the High Court by January 19.
Rejecting the argument of Morbi Municipality and the court accepted the petition against the owners of the Oreva group. The bench comprising chief justice Aravind Kumar and justice Ashutosh Shastri has asked Jaysukh Patel to submit a reply at the next hearing.
Court also came down heavily on 46 councillors of Morbi municipality and shot down their plea demanding they be heard before any adverse order is passed regarding dissolving or superseding the civic body.
