Gujarat Budget 2023: Agri Budget sees 3-fold rise; Energy & Petrochem Dept allocation cut by half

Gandhinagar: In his budget speech, Gujarat finance minister Kanubhai Desai announced a budgetary outlay of Rs 3.01 lakh crore for fiscal 2023-24 in Gandhinagar. All departments except one saw an increase in budgetary allocation, with an overall rise of 23.38 per cent compared to the previous year’s budget.
The allocation to the Agriculture, Farmer’s Welfare, and Co-operation Department saw a three-fold increase, rising from ₹7,737 crores last year to ₹21,605 crores this year.
The Energy and Petrochemicals Department is the only department to have received a reduced budget allocation, with the Finance Minister allocating ₹8,738 crores this year, which is approximately half of the ₹15,568 crores it received last year.” DeshGujarat
