Vadodara: Nilesh Rathod is the new Mayor of the city of Vadodara. He will succeed outgoing Mayor Keyur Rokadiya.

Rokadiya had resigned recently as Mayor after his election to the State Assembly as a legislator and subsequent party directive to follow the ‘one person one post’ policy.

Radhod is a member of the Standing Committee of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC). He will stay in the post of Mayor for about six months. It is for the first time that someone from the Southern part of Vadodara has become Mayor.

Rathod was selected by the party from a pool of five suitable names for the post. The other names scrutinized by the party were – Manoj Patel, Hitendra Patel, Chirag Barot, and Alpesh Limbachiya. DeshGujarat
