Collector declares holiday in Bhuj as per the traditions, as Hamirsar lake overflows

Bhuj: The schools and the State government offices and local body offices in the district headquarters of Bhuj will observe the holiday on the 10th of July 2023, as the heart of the town, Hamirsar Lake has started overflowing today on July 9th. The holiday has been declared officially by the district collector as per the local tradition that is going on since the days of country states and kings.
While declaring the holiday, for schools and the state government offices in Bhuj today, the district collector has in an order mentioned the general administration department of the State government’s letter dated 28 October 1970 instructing the same that whenever Hamirsar lake starts overflowing, a public holiday should be declared as per the age-old tradition, so that the locals cal celebrate it.
The local municipality chief Mr. Thakkar and other leaders gathered at Hamirsar Lake which is popularly called the heart of the Bhuj town to celebrate the occasion. Kutch is an arid region and whenever the prime lake of its main town Bhuj witness overflow, the locals celebrate it as a sign of good rain and sufficient water storage for the year.
It’s noteworthy that Kutch is witnessing excess rain this year. A locally important Tappar dam of Kutch has achieved full reservoir level recently within the first few weeks of the ongoing South West Monsoon. DeshGujarat
