Ahmedabad: A young man while riding his bike in the city today, noticed a black snake around the petrol tank of his bike. Consequently, he veered the bike off the road and informed the animal rescue team, which arrived and rescued the snake.
The incident occurred while a youth was passing by the Income Tax crossroads on his bike. A snake emerged near the tank, leading him to abandon the bike. Local people gathered around, and shortly after being informed, Vijay Dabhi from the animal rescue team arrived. The 1.5-foot-long black (Krait) snake had become trapped in the bike’s bonnet but was promptly rescued with the help of a snake tong.
The rescued snake turned out to be a venomous black snake containing neurotoxin, which can adversely affect the human nervous system. A snakebite from this species can even be fatal if the victim does not reach the hospital in time. Notably, this snake has a red tongue, distinguishing it from other snakes.
Another similar incident occurred in the Navagam-Dindoli area of Surat, where a snake took shelter in an activa. Initially, one Hitesh Patil attempted to remove the snake with the help of his friends. However, when the snake didn’t come out, they informed the fire brigade and nature club.
Upon being alerted, the fire brigade arrived at the scene and attempted to use water pressure to extricate the snake from the Activa. However, the snake did not appear, and a mechanic was called to open the trunk of the Activa. Eventually, the snake was rescued with the help of a stick.
According to the Nature Club, the snake found in the Activa was a non-venomous green snake species, measuring about three to four feet in length. They released the snake in a forested area after the rescue. DeshGujarat
