Passport office staff in Ahmedabad to cease work on Saturdays
August 26, 2023
Ahmedabad: The passport office personnel in the city have collectively chosen to cease work on Saturdays and from Monday, they will strictly adhere to established protocols and refrain from taking on any additional tasks beyond their designated roles.
This decision has been prompted by the All India Passport Staff Association’s determination to advocate for their longstanding demand, especially regarding the filling of vacant positions. Officials have emphasized that even with a 60% surge in workload over the past five years the workforce across the nation has declined from 2700 to 1700. Adding to their concerns is the government’s failure to carry out cadre restructuring or a comprehensive review. Moreover, the absence of promotions for a whole year and the accumulation of pending orders further escalated the situation. DeshGujarat
