Ahmedabad: The sports complex at Sabarmati Riverfront here, which has been lying for two years near NID and near Shahpur in the east, will be inaugurated on Saturday by the hands of cricketer Mithali Raj. The management of the sports complex has been handed over to Adani Sportsline Pvt Ltd of the Adani Group under which the company will pay Rs 1.18 crore annually to the municipal corporation. However, the right to fix the fee for each game played at the sports complex has been vested in the Adani Group. The Riverfront officials may intervene in the basic fee but the advance fee will be decided by Adani Sportsline only. Booking can be done using Adani Sportsline website.

For pay and play, the fee is Rs.1200 per hour for tennis, Rs.500 per pitch per hour for cricket practice. Apart from this, fees have been fixed for basketball, skating and pickle ball. Jogging has been kept free for citizens from six to eight in the morning. Citizens who want to go to the complex for any game or playing have to do online booking or online reservation. Those not wearing sports shoes will not be allowed to enter here.

The Riverfront Company had previously issued a tender for running the sports complex, in which the controversial company’s proposal was rejected. Subsequently, in the re-issued tender, two other companies including Adani Sportsline Pvt Ltd filed the tender. Subsequently Adani Sportsline was issued a work order to run both the complexes for five years.

Tennis court per hour for Rs. 1200 : Normally 4 players can play in 1 court but here 2 more players are allowed. To bring more persons Rs. 30 has to be paid per person.

Cricket pitch for Rs. 500 per hour: A pitch has been made for practice in the sports complex on which the pitch is fixed at 500 per hour in which one batsman and three bowlers can play.

Skating per hour per person Rs. 100 : 20 players can play simultaneously but for trial basis only 10 will be allowed.

Basketball per hour per court for Rs. 1200 : Two teams can book it for five players. If a team brings more persons to watch the game, Rs. 30 will need to be paid per person. DeshGujarat
