Dhokla: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has nabbed a class 4 employee of UGVCL (Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd.) in Dholka here in Ahmedabad district, in a bribery case involving ₹1500.
According to the complaint, the applicant had paid the required legal fees when applying for an electricity connection. However, even after the installation of poles and wiring, the connection remained non-functional. When the complainant inquired about this issue at the UGVCL Office, the accused, Rakeshbhai Danubhai Santharia, who works as a Patta wala (a position in the class four category), demanded a bribe of ₹1500 in exchange for the ‘completion and installation certificate’.
Since the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau. Later in a trap set up by the ACB, the accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe. The accused has been detained, and further investigation is ongoing. DeshGujarat
