Prepaid meters installation to begin from Piplod in Surat on Monday

Surat: Installation of prepaid electricity meters will kick off in Surat from Piplod based Suman society on Monday, April 8 in 100 houses. The customers will be given mobile application after registration. They shall be also given a helpline number 18002333003 or 19123.
The customers will be able to do minimum Rs. 100 recharge. Power connection will not be disconnection till minus Rs. 300 balance. Even after prepaid balance is over, the connection will continue to work for five days. In routine days, disconnection will not take place before 10 am and after 4 pm. Customers will be able to access the data of usage on mobile app. The data will get updated every 30th minute. The connection if discharge due to lack of balance, will be restored in 15 minutes after the payment is done. The customers will get information regarding their balance through messages. Say for example, is Rs. 50 balance is left, an alert message will be pushed.
The mobile application will be given only in one mobile phone per connection. Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL) aims to cover 21 lakh customers in 18 months period for installation.
The power company targets to install 1.83 lakh meters in Piplod, 2.41 lakh in Surat urban division, 3.11 lakh in Surat rural, 3.40 lakh in Rander division, 1.88 lakh in Kamrej, 89,000 in industrial areas and 1.61 lakh in Vyara. DeshGujarat
