Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had given a plot near Kashmira society in Paldi area of city to private firm Nila Infrastructure as contractor for slum redevelopment project. The plot was measuring 3500 square meter.
After the redevelopment work which involved 126 housing units for Hindu slum owners in around 2,000 square meters land, Nila Infrastructure, owned by Vadodariyas had now a 1500 square meter balance land. The land went to the ownership of Faham Naeem Tirmizi, Fatin Naeem Tirmizi and Naeem Sirajuddin Tirmizi led building firm Elite Human Space Pvt Ltd via Dariyapur based Jayram Rabari. As the movement of Muslims became frequent here on the construction site of ‘Harmony Flats’, the local Hindus and Jains noticed it and further inquired into it. They were shocked to learn that the firm was building a residential property for Muslims here.
The Hindus and Jains living nearby have protested the construction of Muslim residential building on this plot and alleged violation of Disturbed Area Act. After representation was made to local BJP MLA Amit Shah, the issue was taken forward to the Chief Minister’s office. After the intervention from the highest level, the controversial construction work has been halted at present. Paldi area has witnessed protests over “land Jihad” in the past too. DeshGujarat
