June 04, 2024
Vadodara: One Illiyaas Sheikh, accused of using a fake Disturbed Area Act certificate to sell a Hindu-owned property to a Muslim, was nabbed by Raopura Police at Mumbai International Airport while attempting to leave for Saudi Arabia. The incident involves Moti Chhipwad of the Panigate area in Vadodara.
Raopura police arrested Sheikh after an FIR was filed against him on May 9th. The property in question, located in the Khatri Pol area of Moti Chhipwad, belonged to 69-year-old Lataben Jaysuryakantbhai Shah and fell under the Disturbed Area Act. Despite negative reports from the police and Nayab Mamlatdar, Sheikh submitted a fake certificate in 2021 to trade the property. The fraudulent certificate contained a forged signature of the Deputy Collector. During interrogation, Sheikh revealed the names of two accomplices, Shakil Abbas Patel and Junaid Yusuf Sheikh, who have also been apprehended. Another accomplice, Samir, is still at large. DCP Zone-2 Abhay Soni confirmed that all arrested individuals would be presented in court for remand and further investigation. DeshGujarat
