NEET PG 2024 postponed as precautionary measure; New dates to be notified soon

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced on Saturday that the NEET PG 2024 entrance exam scheduled for Sunday has been postponed. This decision follows allegations of irregularities in the conduct of the NEET-UG exams.

The Health Ministry stated in its press note, “Taking into consideration, the recent incidents of allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations, Ministry of Health has decided to undertake a thorough assessment of the robustness of processes of NEET-PG Entrance Examination, conducted by National Board of Examination for medical students. It has accordingly been decided, as a precautionary measure to postpone the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, scheduled to be held tomorrow i.e. 23rd June, 2024. Fresh date of this examination will be notified at the earliest.”

“Ministry of Health sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to the students. This decision has been taken in the best interests of the students and to maintain the sanctity of examination process.” the press note added.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences administers the NEET-PG to assess advanced medical knowledge.

In another development, the National Testing Agency (NTA) chief Subodh Kumar Singh has been removed from his position amid the ongoing uproar over the NEET UG Exam controversy.

It is noteworthy that the NTA is responsible for conducting the NEET-UG exams required for admission into MBBS courses, while the National Board of Examinations conducts the NEET PG exam, which MBBS graduates need to pass to gain admission to postgraduate and diploma courses in government and private colleges in India.
