Bajrang Dal defaces Rahul Gandhi’s photo in Gujarat Congress HQ protesting his “anti-Hindu remark”

Ahmedabad: Bajrang Dal activists staged a protest late Monday night at the office of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress, Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, in response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘anti-Hindu’ remarks. To express their discontent, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) workers plastered posters criticizing Rahul Gandhi for his alleged anti-Hindu stance and defaced Gandhi’s photos and posters with black ink.
The Congress office was locked when the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal workers arrived late at night with spray paints and posters to protest. Bajrang Dal and VHP workers entered the Congress office by jumping the gate.
After learning about the incident, Congress workers reached the office and removed the torn posters and banners. They repainted the defaced banner, and the photos of Rahul Gandhi that were sprayed with paint were also removed. A large number of police officers were deployed outside the Congress office. Gradually, leaders arrived at the Congress office one by one. The Congress party has announced plans to file a police complaint regarding this matter.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi delivered his first speech as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha on Monday, during which he said that those who call themselves Hindus talk about violence.
The statement did not sit well with the treasury bench. Prime Minister Modi intervened, saying that calling Hindus violent is a serious matter. Home Minister Amit Shah also demanded an apology from Gandhi for this statement.
