School in Udhna, Surat sealed by SMC since a month; 941 students sitting at home!
July 10, 2024
Surat: Chhatrapati Shivaji School in the Udhna area of Surat has been shut for the last month due to sealing by the Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) since June 3. Though the school management handed over an assurance letter and fire NOC, the procedure of unsealing is pending. As a result, as many as 941 students have been sitting at home without going to school for the last one month.
The books supplied by the State government for students are also lying inside the school without access to students as the building is sealed.
When making a representation, the District Education Officer (DEO) told the school principal to issue LC (school leaving certificates) to students and suggested that they should be accommodated in Limbayat-based Sarvajanik school. However, both the school management and the parents believe this is not a practical solution, as Limbayat is far away. DeshGujarat
