Gujarat ATS busts drug-making unit in Palsana; MD drug worth ₹51 cr seized

Surat: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) uncovered a mephedrone manufacturing unit in Kareli village on outskirts of Palsana during a raid late Wednesday night, seizing MD drug worth ₹51 crore.
Acting on a tip-off, an ATS team raided an industrial shed in Palsana on Wednesday night, arresting two individuals and recovering MD drugs (mephedrone) along with raw materials used for manufacturing the contraband.
ATS Gujarat Deputy SP, Shankar Chaudhari told the media, “Gujarat ATS officials got information that an MD drug manufacturing factory has been set up and manufacturing is underway there. On the basis of that input, a team of 2 Inspectors was formed. The teams had 3 Sub Inspectors each. The location in Surat Rural was raided and MD was seized – 4 kg in hard form and 31 kg in liquid form. 2 accused have been arrested and 1 accused has been detained. Accused Sunil Narayan is a resident of Vapi, accused Vijay is a resident of Surat, and accused Harish is a resident of Junagarh. One accused, Salim Sayyad from Mumbai was supplied with 4 kg of this. Another team has been sent to investigate this. ATS has seized MD worth a total of Rs 51 Crores.”
“The idea of manufacturing drugs came from mastermind Sunil Narayan Yadav. Together with Vijay Gajera, an electrical engineer, they made a plan with Harish Borat and started manufacturing the drugs,” the officer added.
“Two individuals found inside the shed were also arrested. The unit has been sealed, and further investigation is underway,” stated Deputy Inspector General of Police, ATS, Sunil Joshi.DeshGujarat
