Plot to threaten Hindu leaders: Surat Court allows voice spectrography of accused Maulvi Timol

Surat: The local court on Wednesday granted permission to conduct a voice spectrographic analysis of Maulvi Sohail Abubakar Timol, who is in jail for making death threats to leaders of Hindu organizations and BJP leaders.

On May 4, the Surat Police Crime Branch arrested Mohammed Sohel, also known as Maulvi Abubakar Timol, on charges of conspiring to assassinate Hindu Sanatan Sangh president Upadesh Rana and threatening other Hindu leaders such as BJP’s Telangana MLA Raja Singh and former party spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

The Crime Branch had applied for permission from the Surat court to verify the voice of jailed Maulvi Mohammad Sohail. Maulvi was produced in court, where his lawyer was also present. After hearing both sides, the court granted permission to take Maulvi to Gandhinagar FSL for voice spectrography. DeshGujarat
