Traders in Jamnagar observe bandh over enforcement of ‘No Hawking Zone’
August 06, 2024
Jamnagar: Traders from the Bardhan Chowk area of Jamnagar organized a large bike rally today and observed a bandh by closing their businesses, demanding the immediate enforcement of a no-hawking zone from Darbar Garh to Mandvi Tower. They submitted a detailed memorandum to the Jamnagar district collector’s office, calling for the immediate enforcement of the no-hawking zone. The petition indicates that if effective action is not taken soon, the traders will follow the Gandhian route of peaceful protest and may even approach the High Court if necessary.
It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court had issued an advisory for a no-hawking zone along the route from Darbar Garh to Mandvi Tower in Jamnagar city. However, this has not been enforced strictly. Many hawkers illegally occupy the road, causing traffic woes as well as inconvenience to local traders. DeshGujarat
