Blockade on Saputara – Nashik highway in Maharashtra for last four days by agitators

Saputara: Saputara – Nashik highway is shut for last over four day over a blockade agitation in Maharashtra demanding posting of only tribal government officers/ staffers in the areas populated by tribals and implementation of PESA act in that reference.
Those agitating announce they would continue the blockade of highway in Surgana taluka of Maharashtra till their demands are accepted. All roads connecting Saputara to Nashik, including the national highway and the internal roads are blocked for last over four days due to this agitation whcih has also affected transportation of vegetables, milk and other items.
The agitation started on 21 August at Umbarpada Digar RTO checkpost near Borganv on Saputara – Nashik highway. The agitators are claiming various demands in the name of PESA act. Countless passengers on way to Gujarat were stuck at Maharashtra’s checkpost.
Meanwhile the police team from Saputara rescued 22 people belonging to four families of Mahesana from Borganv – Umbarpada Digar checkpost and sent them to home safely. These 22 people were with six vehicles. They were coming to Saputara from Nashik for further journey in Gujarat. They were stuck at the blockade at 11 pm on Friday. They called Shabridham’s Trustee in Dang for rescue. The Trustees of Shabridham called Saputara police inspector Nikhil Bhoya. The team of Nikhil Bhoy,a Vijay Thapa, Ranjitbhai and GRD jawans walked to the interstate border place where the Mahesana group was stuck.
