Heavy rains in Gujarat damaged 3,610 km of road infrastructure

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat announced on Sunday that the recent rainfall in various regions has caused damage to 3,610 kilometers of the road network in the state, which has a total road network of 116,000 kilometers.
An official statement indicated that the roads and buildings department has been instructed to complete repairs on all major district roads by September 7 and on all rural roads by September 15. District collectors and secretaries have been tasked with conducting daily reviews of the progress in road repairs. Additionally, the statement revealed that 466 teams, consisting of 6,487 workers, have been organized to work around the clock to restore the damaged roads.
Of the 2,894 kilometers of national highways in the state, 139 kilometers have been affected. The NHAI and the state government are collaboratively undertaking the repairs for these roads. In Ahmedabad district, 42 roads suffered varying degrees of damage due to the rainfall; however, vehicle movement has been restored on 30 of these roads. DeshGujarat
