September 27, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today arrested a Traffic Brigade personnel in a decoy operation in the city for accepting a bribe of Rs. 200 from a motorist.
Vehicles are routinely stopped by the police, Home Guard, and Traffic Brigade (TRB) personnel to check for violations related to licenses, PUC, wrong-side driving, no-parking, overloading, etc. The ACB had received information that some personnel were demanding bribes ranging from Rs. 100 to Rs. 3,000 from drivers in exchange for not issuing memos. Acting on this information, a decoy trap was set up. The accused, Vishal Sureshbhai Patni (30), a TRB worker under H Traffic Police Station, stopped the loading vehicle of the decoyer near the Rakhiyal Char Rasta traffic point and demanded a bribe of Rs. 200 in exchange for not issuing a memo. He was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe. DeshGujarat
