Miscreants attack residential society with swords and stones in Chanakyapuri area of Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Video clips of the attack on Shivam Residential Society in the Chanakyapuri area of the city have gone viral on social media. In this incident, which took place last night, a group of miscreants could be seen attacking the society from outside the closed gate. The miscreants had swords in their hands, and some of them also tried to jump the gate. They pelted stones inside the society. In response, the residents of the society also threw stones. The miscreants left the place after they heard the siren of a police van.

In the latest update, the police this morning nabbed 5 people in this case, including a minor. Three of the accused have been arrested, while two have only been detained. The individuals who have been caught include Ravi Thakor, Sanjay Bharatbhai, Akshay Thakor, and Arjun Solanki, with Ravi being the main accused. Ravi has three prior prohibition cases registered against him, while Arjun has also been booked in 5 prohibition cases.

Locals from the society said that a resident recently shifted to the Ognaj area and rented out his flat to someone just three to four days ago. The residents of the society discovered that an illegal liquor party was going on inside the rented flat. The society members objected to this, raided the flat, and nabbed two people with liquor inside. One of them identified himself as Ravi Thakor from Ghatlodia and told the society members to do whatever they could. Thakor and his aide then called for more associates, who arrived in a Bolero vehicle and started attacking the society with stones.

The watchman of the society locked the main gate from the inside, preventing the miscreants from entering the society compound. Later, when the police arrived, they broke the lock of the rented flat and checked inside, finding several bottles of foreign liquor. The chairman of the society went to the police station to file a complaint. The residents complained that they had started calling the police for help since 8:00 PM, but the police arrived at 8:35 PM. In the meantime, they had to defend themselves against the miscreants who had arrived with swords.

Two police complaints have been filed in this incident. One is by police constable Virsinh Pravinsinh of Sola Police Station. He stated in his complaint that upon checking B/205 Shivam Arcade flat, the police found 12 foreign liquor bottles worth Rs. 22,060 inside. The bottles were for sale in Rajasthan only.

The second complaint was filed by Vishnubhai Patel, the Chairman of Shivam Arcade Society. He stated in his complaint that Pankaj Patel’s B/205 flat has been closed for some time, and the maintenance of the flat is also unpaid. At around 7 pm, an unidentified person was seen leaving B block. When asked which flat he was coming from, the person said he was from B/205 and had rented the flat for the past three days. Shortly after, another person came from the same flat. Upon further inquiry, he returned to B/205 and later sent a third person who tried to evade questioning by the society’s office bearers. When they tried to stop him, he left his Honda Activa GJ01XP1230 in the society compound and issued a threat that he would return with more people.

The society office bearers instructed the watchman, Sandip Randhir, to lock the society gate from the inside. While they were speaking to the other person from B/205 flat, at around 8 pm, about 15 people arrived outside the society gate armed with swords, rods, and sticks. They used abusive language and attempted to force open the gate using swords and rods. Society resident Suresh Patel was attacked with a sword but managed to dodge it and avoid injury. The miscreants hit the gate with swords, leaving visible marks, and began throwing paving stones. They broke the glass of the security cabin, damaged the CCTV camera display, and destroyed some cameras. One of the attackers identified himself as Ravi Thakor from Ghalodiya, and others introduced themselves as Parag Thakor, Montu Thakor, and Arjun Thakor. Society resident Dinesh Desai suffered a stone injury on his back. Meanwhile, one person from the B/205 flat, who had been inside, escaped by jumping over the gate. He too threw stones and hurled abusive language at the society members. DeshGujarat
