Gujarat receives 137% of average monsoon rainfall by 1st Oct; Read taluka & city wise details

Gandhinagar: As of Tuesday morning, October 1st, Gujarat has completed 137.43% of its average monsoon rainfall for the season. This year, the state has received around 1213.55 mm of rain against an average of 883 mm (based on data from 1994-2023). However, 1 district out of 33 in the state is still lagging behind and has not achieved 100% of the average rainfall.

Among the regions, South Gujarat has received the highest amount of rain, with 2105.20 mm, followed by Saurashtra with 1088.26 mm and East Central with 1077.73 mm. Meanwhile, Kutch and North Gujarat recorded an average rainfall of 896.40 mm and 838.39 mm, respectively.

The state as a whole had surpassed 100% of the average monsoon rainfall in August itself, but the monsoon remained active, bringing heavy rains in the month of September as well. The only district that has not achieved 100% of its average rainfall is Banaskantha in North Gujarat, which witnessed 641.93 mm of rain this season, reaching 99.90% of the average rainfall to date.

The four largest cities of Gujarat—Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Rajkot—have received 990 mm, 1769 mm, 2002 mm, and 1279 mm of rain, respectively. All these cities have recorded more than 100% of their average monsoon season rainfall. DeshGujarat
