November 04, 2024
Mahisagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed a retired Home Guard Commanding Officer, Manabhai Motibhai Damor (58), in a bribery case involving ₹6,000 in Mahisagar.
Damor, who retired from his position two years ago, allegedly continued to exercise influence over the posting and duties of Home Guards. Despite no longer holding the post, he reportedly interfered in administrative matters that fell under his son’s responsibilities, as he currently serves as a Home Guard Commanding Officer. According to the ACB, he demanded a ₹6,000 bribe from the complainant in exchange for approving the honorarium allowance bill and ensuring a favorable work location.
When the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB. Acting on the complaint, the Mahisagar ACB organized a trap, during which Damor was caught accepting the bribe in the presence of witnesses. The ACB has since filed charges against him.
