Godhra: The Vadodara-Delhi section of the 1,386 km long, 8-lane Delhi-Mumbai Expressway consists of 31 packages. Among these, Packages 26 to 31 connect Vadodara to the Madhya Pradesh border via Dahod. In three previous updates, we shared segment-wise progress from Vadodara-Godhra, Godhra-Dahod, and Dahod to the MP border. In this update, we have combined all 6 packages and are sharing the progress report based on recent updates from vloggers and on-field footage.

Package No. 31:

According to the latest on-field footage shared by InfraLive, Package No. 31, which is 19 km long, is around 100% complete. This package starts from the Vadodara-Ahmedabad NE-1 Interchange and ends at Pratapnagar near Savli. The entry and exit roads at the NE-1 interchange are complete. Travelers can access the Vadodara-Virar section from one side of the interchange, while the Vadodara-Delhi section begins from the other side.

Moving towards Godhra from this interchange, approximately 100% of the expressway work is complete. The only portion yet to be finished is where a power transmission line crosses the route, which has been an issue at this interchange for the last two years.

After the transmission line, all roadwork is complete, including the installation of speed cameras, hoardings, surveillance cameras, and streetlights until the end of the package. However, there are still 4-5 small portions in this package where the work is pending due to the transmission line crossing. This issue has persisted for the past two years and cannot be resolved until the transmission lines are shifted.

The central control room beside the expressway in this package is also ready. In summary, alignment, landscaping, and all other work in this package are 100% complete, except for the small portions affected by the transmission lines.

Package No. 30:

Next is Package No. 30, which is 22 km long and stretches from Pratapnagar to the Kalol Interchange. Bitumen laying work is ongoing in most parts of this package. Apart from that, the only major work left in this package is the construction of canal bridges and lane marking.

At the start of the package, bitumen laying work is ongoing, followed by earthwork in a 2 km stretch. As we move towards Kalol, slab casting work at an underpass is ongoing. In most of this section, bitumen laying work is progressing, and hoardings are being erected in some places. Work on wayside amenities has not started, with only boundary wall construction underway in the amenities area.

Moving ahead, bridge work is ongoing over the canal in Mal Ankaliya Village. Pier work for this bridge is complete, and steel girders have been assembled, but the erection work is still pending. Another canal at Tulsipura village has steel bridge work underway, nearing completion on one side of the highway. However, work on the other side will begin later.

As we near the end of Package No. 30, bridge work over the Narmada Canal is ongoing. This bridge is approximately 2 km long, and one 4-lane side is ready, with girder erection work continuing on the other side. After this, the package ends just before the Kalol Interchange, which falls under Package No. 29.

Package No. 29:

This 23 km long package, which covers the stretch from Kalol Interchange to Godhra Interchange, is 100% complete and fully operational.

In summary, the Vadodara-Godhra section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is nearing full completion, with only a few small sections affected by power transmission line crossings.

Package No. 28:

Package 28 spans 23 km, beginning at the Godhra Interchange and ending at Sant Road. Currently, most of the ongoing work involves bitumen laying, along with bridge construction at some junctions, while earthwork is ongoing in 2-3 areas. If progress continues at this rate, this package is expected to be completed in the next 4-5 months.

To begin with, the Godhra Interchange in Package 29 is completely ready. After this, Package 28 begins, and bitumen laying work is ongoing as we move from the interchange towards the Dahod side. The installation of plantation and side crash barriers is also in progress. Further ahead, there is a portion where earthwork is taking place, and as a canal crosses, the work on an overbridge is happening. On one side of the bridge, pier cap work has been completed, and on the other side of the canal, the foundation laying for piers is in progress. Just after the canal, there is a 100-meter stretch where earthwork has not started yet. Beyond this, bitumen laying continues.

As we move ahead, the expressway intersects with State Highway No. 5 (Modasa Road). A major overbridge is being built at this intersection. The slab work on four lanes of the expressway is complete, while shuttering work is ongoing on the remaining four lanes. Moving forward from Modasa Road, bitumen laying is ongoing in most portions. Meanwhile, in some patches, earthwork is taking place, with bitumen laying as the next step. Lane marking and hoarding erection have not yet started on this Godhra-Dahod section, but the installation of speed cameras has begun.

As we approach Kanjiya village, lane marking work on one side of the expressway is complete. Side crash barriers and a water harvesting system have also been installed. Next, the expressway crosses the Panam River, over which a major bridge has been constructed, and bitumen laying work is ongoing on one side of the bridge. After crossing the river, another bridge is being built at the location where Sant Road crosses. The bridge has been erected, but the connection with the alignment is still pending. Earthwork on both sides of the bridge is also pending. Just after the Sant Road crossing, Package 28 ends.

Package No. 27:

Moving ahead, Package 27, which is 29 km long, starts after Sant Road and ends at Bhimpura village. The Limkheda Interchange also falls within this package. From the looks of it, this package will be fully ready in the next 5-6 months. As of now, this package is about 82% complete.

At the beginning of this package, a government school building lies right in the expressway alignment. School operations have already been shifted, although the building has yet to be demolished. The bitumen laying work is near completion, with side crash barriers, plantation, and road marking work also underway.

As we approach Vadodar village, the alignment passes through a small hill, where hill-cutting work is ongoing and is about 95% complete. Once this is finished, bitumen laying work will begin. After this hill section, the bitumen laying work is in the final stages. Near Piplod, only lane marking and hoarding work remain. A river bridge is under construction here, with one side completed and shuttering work for slab casting ongoing. After this bridge, the road is ready, and plantation and speed camera installation are taking place. Another river bridge comes as we move forward, where the work is complete, with only bitumen laying pending.

Further ahead, the expressway intersects with NH 147 near Umedpura village, where the Limkheda Interchange is being developed. A bridge is being built before the interchange. The Limkheda Interchange is being built over the Limkheda-Limdi road, and bridge work over this highway is complete, with earthwork ongoing in some areas. At the interchange, toll structures are ready, and work on the entry and exit roads is ongoing. Once past the interchange, we can see that bitumen laying is complete, and side crash barriers are being installed. Just a few kilometers later, Package 27 ends, and Package 26 begins, which is the last package of the Vadodara-Delhi section in Gujarat.

Package No. 26:

Package 26 is approximately 33 km long, starting at Bhimpura village in Dahod district and ending near the Anas river at the Gujarat-MP state border. At the beginning of the package, a village road crosses, and the overpass construction is pending. As we proceed ahead, a long viaduct is being constructed as a river lies in the path of the expressway. On one side of the viaduct, girder erection work is complete, while on the other side, pier construction work is underway. Moving ahead, hill-cutting work is being carried out in the hilly region, though most of the work is still pending. After crossing the hill, bitumen laying is happening in small patches (around 1-2 km) due to ongoing work on several structures in this alignment.

In this package, the alignment is very uneven, so many structures are being built to smoothen the road. Work on these structures is ongoing, with bitumen laying continuing on the completed sections. Near Amba village, work on structures is progressing, with bitumen being laid on the finished roads.

Next is the Limdi Interchange, which is being built on NH 48. The toll structure work on this interchange is complete, and bitumen laying is also complete on the main alignment, but the work on the entry and exit roads is still pending.

As we pass through the interchange, NH 56 crosses nearby, and bridge work over the NH 56 intersection is ongoing, with pier construction work taking place on one side of the bridge. Moving ahead, wayside amenities are planned, but no work has started on this location as of now.

As we approach Dhara Dungri village, bridge work over a small river is in progress, with pier construction ongoing. Further ahead, bitumen laying on the road is mostly complete until Gultora village (Jhalod taluka of Dahod district), where a viaduct is being built and girder erection work is underway. Moving ahead, bitumen laying is complete on most of the part, with finishing work left.

Near the Chakliya-Dahod road crossing, an overpass is being built with the pier cap complete, but girder erection is pending. Just before the Anas River, Package 26 ends. Compared to other packages in the Vadodara to Dahod segment of the expressway, not much work has been completed on Package 26. This can be attributed to the uneven alignment and the large number of structures being built to make the road steady and even.

In conclusion, overall, Package 26 is around 50% complete. Looking at the pending work left on this package, it will take at least one more year to be ready. This is the last package in Gujarat, and after the Anas River, the expressway is completed all the way to the Mukundra Hills tunnel in Rajasthan. DeshGujarat
