Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad City Police has issued an official order detailing traffic restrictions and safety measures for the upcoming Kankaria Carnival, scheduled to be held at Kankaria Lake in the Kagdapith and Maninagar areas from 25 December to 31 December 2025.

The order, issued by Police Commissioner G.S. Malik, stated that to ensure smooth traffic management and public safety during the festival, several roads and areas around Kankaria Lake have been declared “No Parking,” “No Stopping,” and “No U-Turn” zones.

According to the order:

• No vehicles above two-wheelers will be allowed to stop on roads from Kankaria Chowki Tran Rasta to Railway Yard, Khokhara Bridge, Dedki Garden, Siddhi Vinayak Hospital, Machhi Pir, Pushpakunj Circle, Apsara Cinema, Football Grounds, Lohana Mahajanwadi, and back to Kankaria Chowki, as well as throughout Kankaria Lake. Parking is permitted only in designated areas.

• No U-turns will be allowed on the entire two-lane circle road around Kankaria Lake.

• The movement of all goods and passenger vehicles will be restricted from 8:00 am to 1:00 am on key roads leading to Kankaria, including:

  • Danilimda Roundabout to Shah Alam

  • Chandola Police Chowki three-way road

  • Maninagar Railway Station to Maninagar Roundabout to Rambagh Roundabout to Kankaria

  • Kagdapith T to Vanijya Bhavan to Kankaria

  • Raipur Darwaza to Big Bazaar to Parsi Agiari Roundabout

The order, effective from 25 to 31 December 2025, authorizes police officers from Joint/Additional Police Commissioner to Police Constable to enforce the notification. Violators may face action under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 2023 and Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act, 1951.
