Traffic Diversions Announced in Ahmedabad for Dakor Poonam Fair
March 01, 2026
Ahmedabad: In view of the upcoming Fagun Sud Poonam fair at Dakor, city police have announced traffic restrictions and diversions in parts of Ahmedabad to ensure smooth movement and prevent congestion.
The annual fair, scheduled from February 27, 2026 to March 4, 2026, is expected to draw a large number of pilgrims travelling towards Dakor for darshan. Anticipating a significant rise in vehicular traffic, particularly on routes connecting to the Ahmedabad–Mehmedabad highway and surrounding arterial roads, authorities have imposed temporary restrictions on select stretches.
According to the notification, vehicular movement will be restricted on key routes including:
-
The stretch from Jashodanagar Cross Roads to Vinkol Cross Roads (Lal Gebi Circle side), where one side of the road will remain closed to all types of vehicles.
-
The road from Ramol Cross Roads to the Vatva New Railway Bridge, which will remain closed for vehicular traffic.
-
The route from Jashodanagar Cross Roads towards the overbridge near Ghodasar–Isanpur and onward connections, which will also face restrictions.
To ease congestion, alternate routes have been suggested. Vehicles travelling between Vinkol Cross Roads and Jashodanagar Cross Roads will be allowed to use the available open carriageway in a regulated manner. Two-wheelers and light motor vehicles may be permitted on certain alternative stretches, subject to traffic control on the ground. Vehicles may also be diverted towards the Sardar Patel Ring Road and Narol Circle to access the desired destinations.
Emergency services, including ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and essential government service vehicles, are exempted from the restrictions. Vehicles carrying essential goods and services related to pilgrims will also be allowed as per necessity.
The notification has been issued under the provisions of the Gujarat Police Act and will remain in force from February 27, 2026 until midnight on March 4, 2026.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to cooperate with traffic personnel, follow diversion signs and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the fair period. DeshGujarat
