1.5 crore children medically examined under Gujarat govt’s health check up programme this year

The state government organized school children health check up programme has covered around 1.48 crore children this year.
Health Minister Nitin Patel informed the assembly house on Thursday that the progamme was initiated with health check up of only primary school children across the state. After its big success the government started health checkup week for all students starting from std 1 to 12 in schools, anganwadi children and children who don’t go to school.
This year as many as 1.48 crore children were medically examined.
Replying a question of MLAs of Gandhinagar district, the minister said that in last two years only in a small district of Gandhinagar 7,23,785 children were covered under health checkup programme. Last year the government spent Rs 16 crore for this in this district. 158 children were found suffering from hearth illness. 46 kidney and 13 cancer cases were detected too.
The state government provides free treatment to such children.
In Ahmedabad district 30.25 lakh children were examined in last two years. 30949 were given referral treatment, 869 were refereed to heart treatment, 1506 were given medical care through expert doctors.
In Rajkot district 8.51 lakh children were examined and 349 were given heart treatment for free, while 7958 were given free glasses. In Mehsana district 80605 children were treated.
Health minister said that giving assistance to Bone marrow transplant operations is under consideration.
